Who They Are

Sculpted Peaks is an artisan sculpture brand founded by Ben Katzaman. They hand-carve mountain sculptures to order — each piece is a faithful 3D representation of a real peak, ridge, or rock formation. Products are referred to as "sculptures" not products. Stone types are never named in customer-facing copy. The brand voice is warm, human, and low-pressure. Ben is a hands-on founder who reviews and approves editorial decisions before anything goes live.

The store runs on Shopify with 76 smart and manual collections. As of April 2026, there are 396 active sculptures — 253 Tier 1 (live, carved to order) and 143 Tier 2 (First Edition, proposed designs available for commission).

Key team contacts (Sculpted Peaks side):

  • Ben Katzaman — founder, final decision-maker on all rankings and editorial changes. Based in Salt Lake City, UT.
  • Lirka — operations/production; manages Notion boards, coordinates with suppliers (Luis, Ivor), handles sample kit logistics. Also flags product/page issues.
  • Steph — catalog management; responsible for product archiving and Notion catalog sync.
  • Jet — contractor, assists with manual archiving tasks delegated by Steph.

Key team contacts (Phil Moore Studio side):

  • Alex (Alexandra Gibson) — handles Shopify theme implementation and Klaviyo setup. ClickUp ID: 101580311. Slack ID: U09LYB892HM.
  • Developer (unnamed) — handles API and Shopify script builds. Currently building the CIS Phase 1 CLI script.
What We Do for Them
  • Collection Intelligence System (CIS) — editorial merchandising system that ranks Shopify collection sort orders using Claude's knowledge of mountain iconicity, regional cultural significance, and site search demand. Phil owns operations; Claude runs the ranking skill; Ben approves all rankings before anything is pushed.
  • Brass Plaque & Medallion Web App — Flask app deployed on Railway that generates brass mockup files for customer orders (PDF/PNG + DXF for engraving + SVG). Staff input order text and the app generates all three files. Current version is the web app ([internal URL]); desktop macOS apps are superseded.
  • Sculpture Dimensions Skill — Claude skill that auto-calculates Small/Medium/Large/XL dimensions for any sculpture from a cropped stone image. Outputs four formatted versions for Shopify variant labels, product descriptions, and carving specs. As of April 2026, ready for real-image testing.
  • Shopify Product Catalog — product export editing, size naming convention updates, collection optimisation, PDP colour/base option audits.
  • CRO & Design — conversion rate audits and design reviews. Active project: Gift Box CRO & Design Audit (April 2026).
Tone of Voice & Copy Rules

Copy rules:

  • No em dashes in any copy or content written for Sculpted Peaks.
  • Products are "sculptures," not "products." Stone types never mentioned in customer-facing copy.
  • Products are always called "sculptures." Stone types are never mentioned in customer-facing copy.
  • No em dashes in any copy or content written for Sculpted Peaks.
  • The CIS methodology is intentionally editorial, not algorithmic. Data informs judgment — it does not replace it.
Brand & Key Context
  • Ben is the decision-maker and must approve all rankings before changes are pushed to Shopify. Never generate a push-ready JSON without his sign-off.
  • Products are always called "sculptures." Stone types are never mentioned in customer-facing copy.
  • No em dashes in any copy or content written for Sculpted Peaks.
  • GA4 data is deliberately excluded from ranking decisions — it creates a self-perpetuating bias loop (whatever was merchandised first sold more). Site search volume is the preferred demand proxy.
  • The store previously had no tier tags. Tags were applied in April 2026 as part of the CIS project.
  • The CIS methodology is intentionally editorial, not algorithmic. Data informs judgment — it does not replace it.
  • Ben confirmed in April 2026 that multi-viewpoint variants of the same mountain must always be grouped consecutively, with the primary/most iconic viewpoint leading. This is a locked founder decision, not a judgment call.
  • Third-party sort apps (Kimonix, ST: Product & Collection Sort, Jedi) were evaluated and ruled out — all rely on transactional signals that are unreliable at this stage of the business.
  • Ben is open to reviewing ranked outputs but only wants to see them when they are well-reasoned and complete. Never surface half-formed rankings to him.
  • Phil works iteratively — provide paste-ready outputs (code blocks, Slack drafts, ClickUp tasks), not long explanatory documents.
